Social Distancing gave wings to this Pune-based startup, plans international expansion soon

There has been an upsurge of digital transactions across industries in the country after PM Modi introduced the ‘Digital India’ initiative.

However, you might have observed (in the pre-Covid era) that when people go out for essential services, they tend to spend more time in the queue than the time required for actual service.

Banks and railway ticket counters are some of the places that still witness long queues every day. People should use this waiting time to engage in more constructive work.

This idea further gave birth to the queue and booking management platform in Pune.

Making life easy

Dingg, founded by the duo of Akshay Poorey and Santosh Patidar provides a market place for customers to book an appointment for a doctor, salon, or any other vendors.

Along with appointments, it also provides end-to-end solutions like billing, staff, inventory management & CRM for salons.

The Platform aims to make the doctor’s life easy by managing the patient’s medical history, prescriptions, among other things.

Covid-19 gave wings to Dingg

Before the lockdown impacted the business, the platform was growing 30% every month.

The lockdown resulted in a sharp decline in sales for Dingg. However, instead of waiting for things to turn positive, the founders decided to do something different that can help society.

“We launched the Dingg contactless token system to help maintain social distancing for essential services,” says Akshay. This helped the platform to stay afloat and hence there were no layoffs, unlike other startups.

While life has started returning to normalcy after govt. announced unlock in different phases, the sales have resumed for Dingg in June.

“We have noticed a sudden surge in the request from different types of vendors. Hence, we are coming up with something new to enable multiple business categories on our platform,” says Santosh.

He further adds, “It will help us to speedup vendor acquisition faster and customers to take full advantage of the marketplace to take any service around them.”

Backed by the Government

Dingg was recently shortlisted under the CAWACH (The Centre for Augmenting WAR with COVID-19 Health Crisis) initiative by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Dept. of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.

CAWACH

In order to support the R&D efforts and to halt further damage to the economy, department of science and technology has been supporting innovations and start-ups that address Covid-19 challenges.

To streamline the process of testing people for Covid-19 at the testing centers, Dingg would soon be providing its complete solutions that include contactless token system, online and app-based appointments and queue management, to the most of the Covid testing centers.

“Our solution also enables the testing centers to manage people by using check-in and checkout facility that will keep track of the number of people visiting the centers,” says Akshay.

He further says, “It will also help testing centers to manage the crowd with social distancing and reduce the fear of visitors getting infected.”

People visiting the testing centers can join a queue or book an appointment by giving a missed call, sending an SMS, or using Dingg’s customer app. This will enable people to pre book their visits and reduced their wait time.

Big Plans

While Dingg is bootstrapped currently, the founders are positively looking to raise funds by the end of this year and soon expand to international markets.
