Jack of all trades, master of none. This old-age proverb is being challenged by millennials who are multi-talented and works on many inter-linked professions with ease.
One such name is Pratha Narang who is not only a jack of all trades but also a master of all.
She is a renowned travel photographer, cinematographer, editor, producer and a wildlife enthusiast. With a body of work to boast of, Pratha has gained immense popularity in her field of work.
“I have lived all my life trying out newer things. I never stopped myself from experimenting and hence the diversity in my career path,” says Pratha.
She has done photography for the film posters like Half Full, an Oscar-nominated short film, starring Naseeruddin Shah and Vikrant Massey, Little Things, a Netflix show and Upstarts, a Netflix film.
She has also edited the making of the films for movies and web Series like Hasmukh, Stree, Baaghi 2, Beyond the Clouds, Lucknow Central, Rangoon, Indu Sarkar and more.
Pratha was the second unit DOP and drone cinematographer for Manoj Bajpayee starrer, Family Man S1.
Talking about her experience of working on this project, Pratha says, “It was challenging and satisfying at the same time because I got to fly the drone in Kashmir and Ladakh which are some of my favourite places in the world. It was the series that gave me my big break as a DOP.”
Pratha has worked as publicity stills for The Last Hour and Pankaj Tripathi starrer, Mirzapur Season 2, which will be released soon.
While she agrees that her experience was great to work with such a talented team, she refused to divulge any details of the upcoming projects.
Pratha recently produced a web series, A Viral Wedding, which is being streamed on Eros Now. The eight-episode series is a story of a social media influencer (Shreya) who refuses to cancel her wedding due to lockdown.
“Producing a web series in the lockdown got me hooked,” says Pratha. It was a phone call from her mentor, Raj Nidimoru which made her a producer. Shreya, the director of the series explained the story and she was on board.
“I am happy with the way my career has shaped up so far but I am far from being content,” concludes Pratha. She aspires to have a rescue animal shelter sometime soon.
